Christy Prunier has launched a line of natural skincare products for tweens and teens called willa with the goal of making it easy for girls to take care of their skin early on – and for them to want to.
“I was in the sun all the time when I was young and almost never used sunscreen, and then in my 20s, I got skin cancer on my face,” said Christy. “I wanted my daughters to take much better care of their skin than I did, but I couldn’t find any products on the market for them – products they would actually want to use without me having to nag.”
Christy decided to create a line of products for girls and spent three years researching and developing the products with a dermatologist and testing them with girls and moms before launching willa, named after her daughter. The 18 willa products have ingredients like acai berry fruit oil, grape seed oil, green tea extract and shea butter and are free of parabens, sulfate, DEA and phthalates. Willa’s motto is “Start young. Stay young.”
Willa products are a huge hit in our house – my daughters LOVE them (thank you, Christy!). The two products they use the most are the “gentle cleansing lavender facial towlettes” and the “acne spot treatment click pen” which, according to my 13 year old, work like a charm.
Given how much my daughters love the products, I was thrilled when willa asked The Motherhood to create a blogger program for a group of mom bloggers to host #willaGirl parties for their teens and tweens and a few of their friends. Cooper and I both hosted parties with our girls and their friends. Here are a few highlights from mine:
Let’s start with the party table. The willa goodie bags were for the girls (inside were the foaming face wash, clear fact moisterizer, SPF30 face protection cream and the smile shimmer lip gloss).
For our spa day, the girls first washed their faces with willa foaming face wash and then applied the willa cucumber face mask. Here’s Elle putting on the mask:
Four of the girls in the briefest of ‘zen spa’ moments:
And after the zen, how best to dry the face masks? Why jumping on the trampoline of course!
Following the face masks, the girls applied the willa clear face moisterizer and the willa face the day 30 SPF protection. I asked them how their skin felt afterward and heard over and over, “So soft and smooth.”
The willa spa party was a huge hit, and tons of fun.
The Motherhood is hosting another party with willa – the willa Twitter party! Please join us to learn more about willa, talk about skin care for tween and teen girls and win prizes!
