I scream, you scream, and 40 bloggers and their families have all been screaming for Dreyer’s and Edy’s ice cream throughout the last 31 days of National Ice Cream Month.
The Motherhood partnered with Dreyer’s/Edy’s throughout the month of July to celebrate a cool treat that keeps a smile on our faces all summer. During National Ice Cream Month, 40 families dug in to the four limited edition Dreyer’s/Edy’s ice cream flavors and reported back to us with their thoughts.
Leila from Life as Leels and her family not only loved trying the flavors, they had fun too.
“It was a great night spending time together as a family trying out and eating our new favorite ice cream flavors – and for a great cause too!”
It was for a great cause, because if tasty limited edition ice cream flavors weren’t enough of a reason for the bloggers and their families to smile, Dreyer’s and Edy’s are also partnering with Operation Smile, an international children’s medical charity, to donate up to $125,000 to make possible 500 reconstructive surgeries for children around the world who suffer from cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities. How great is that?!
Tiffany from Stuff Parents Need and her husband made their ice cream taste testing into a fun back porch date night.
“We didn’t have to hire a babysitter to get some quality time in. We just needed our favorite ice creams and to head out to our back porch! We recently got some outdoor furniture (a first for us, even though we’ve been married for 11 years!). This was the perfect opportunity to break it in!”
Other bloggers and their families pitted the flavors against one another to see which one came out on top. The competition was pretty fierce.
The “Take the Cake” flavor with its yellow cake-flavored ice cream, frosting swirls and multi-colored sprinkles was a fan favorite in the houses of Amy of Grinning Cheek to Cheek, Lauren of Crazy About My Baybah and Rachel of Yellow Tennessee’s kids.
The 3 Stripes You’re Out flavor, with its blueberry and strawberry swirls throughout vanilla ice cream, was a big hit with Annie from Mama Dweeb’s daughter.
The swirls of salted caramel and pretzel pieces in the vanilla ice cream of the Sunny Salted Caramel Pretzel flavor brought smiles to the faces of Bridgette of The Experimental Mommy’s daughters.
Jessica from It’s My Life’s family couldn’t get enough of the caramel coconut swirl and brownie pieces in the chocolate ice cream of the German Chocolate Cake Spectacular. They didn’t waste time with a bowl and took their spoons directly to the source!
The whole group seemed to love the fact that most of the limited edition flavors were available in the Slow Churned variety, which has all the taste of regular ice cream but with ½ the fat and 1/3 fewer calories. It’s a win-win!
Since May 15, Dreyer’s and Edy’s have been sharing posts stamped “A Reason to Smile” on their respective Facebook pages every two weeks. Each post allows fans to participate in different activities – from liking, sharing, and commenting – to learn about the cause and help Dreyer’s and Edy’s reach their goal of donating up to $125,000 to Operation Smile this year. The campaign runs through September 31, 2013.
