How is it workin for ya??
Is he everything you thought he would be? (personally, I would hate to be under the pressure of being viewed as almost omnipotent)
What do you think of his stimulus package? And his cabinet picks?

Originally Posted by JillSimpson in Obama MamasI found these thoughts, emailed from my mom, so poignant, I wanted to share them: This election and the coverage that night brought me back to my experience in the 60's, JFK being elected (I was so enthralled with the Kennedys that I had to buy Jill red oxfords to wear like Caroline's) and all of the hope and inspiration. I got involved with Head Start in North Philadelphia as a result and I appreciated firsthand the programs he instituted in the mental health system because of his sister's illness and the lack of services. Then I witnessed the news of the assassination.....I remember how I sat on the floor in front of the TV in Levittown and how devastated I was. Then in quick succession the assassinations of Bobby Kennedy and Martin Luther King. I literally gave up. I didn't trust that we could ever see the country led by someone who would put it first, rather than being reelected and their own self interests.
But I knew intuitively from early on learning about and listening to Obama that he was the opportunity for real change, There were times when I doubted that our population could elect such a man, but most of the time I believed.
It is wonderful to know that for eight years he can be influential....get us back on a humanitarian track, where the government can consider the needs of those less fortunate. And it is wonderful to know for my children and my grand children that things might get better.
I love all of you so much and feel better for you knowing Obama is our president.

We all knew that yesterday would be historic no matter the outcome, and for us, the significance of the day was elevated several fold because of you. Starting early in the morning you came here together to talk about what an honor it was to be a part of the democratic process, how much your individual vote meant to you and the magnitude of what exercising your vote was teaching your children. All day we listened to you, looked at your photos, read your words and watched those videos, and thought - what an incredible group of strong, thoughtful, caring, wise, articulate and engaged women. We are so lucky you are here. We will always remember November 4, 2008 because of what it means to history, but also because we shared that day with you and you shared that day with all of us.Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. It was a remarkable day and you are remarkable people.xo Cooper and Emily

What a wonderful night for America.I just watched McCain's concession speech and I have to say that I did tear up. I may not have agreed with his politics, but any person who feels the call to run for the highest office in the nation has to be commended for his efforts. I appreciate that he asked his supporters to now be supportive of his former adversary. And I may not have been supportive of Palin, but how wonderfully historic that a woman was that close to the White House. As a girl I always wanted to be president* and now girls my daughter's age won't know a time when it was unthinkable that a woman could aspire to those heights. For me this election was about opening doors. Opening doors to new ideas. Opening doors for women and minorities. And opening doors to welcome change and a new direction for our nation.*In college I changed my double major from Political Science/Business to Anthropology/Women's Studies.
