I recently discovered my best spring cleaning tip while I was spring cleaning. SWIFFER DUSTER! That thing is amazing! It traps the dust and doesn't just spread it to a different spot in your home. Love it!

My favorite product is the deluxe pillow.

My best spring cleaning tip is to groom your pets! They are likely starting to shed, so instead of picking the hair up all over the house, just brush it out now!

A good spring cleaning tip is: Consider traveling with your pillow protector to help minimize symptoms in hotels or while on the road. I would love to get the pillow protector on their site!

I'm the Queen of allergies. I've taken so many back prick tests, and I'm always off the chart for everything. I have my own insurance, and they treat my allergies like a pre-existing condition. They won't cover anything to do with treatment or meds.

My spring cleaning tip: I learned this off of a baby site; I put the kid's stuffed toys in the top shelf of the dishwasher and run it. They say it's better for them then the washer that spins them around and around. It's great for baby toys and cloth books too!

My best cleaning tip is to do one room at a time and enter with 2 boxes, one that you plan on throwing away, it is way to worn and not used, the 2nd for items that you just do not have any use for anymore but are still in good shape and can be donated.

  • MyFourMonkeys Big batch of tips from My Four Monkeys' readers:

    gail@myrepurposedlife.net said...

To clean your windows, first, raise your screens about 1/2 inch, close all windows. go outside, use your garden hose to spray down the entire window, frame, window, screen etc.

This will get all the winter gunk off of the window, screen and sill. By raising the screen, you allow all the garden hose water to drain away.

Make a solution of cleaning suds with warm water and a few drops of dish soap. Wash windows inside and out, enjoy the fresh air!

    jgos said...

Make a habit of checking the batteries in the smoke detectors during spring cleaning especially.

Nothing feels better for spring cleaning than taking everything out of the kitchen cupboards, washing them out, and arranging everything so that it looks clean and organized.

Unfortunately (for me), my best tip is good old fashioned elbow grease, coupled with 'gotta get it done'... it's SO hard to get started, but once I've started, seeing things look clean, picked up and right again helps motivate me to keep going.

My tip is to not let the regular cleaning slide during the cold months. By keeping on top of everything it makes Spring Cleaning so much easier.

Make sure you have all your supplies on hand before you start.
start in one room and completely clean it before moving to another.
Get the rest of the family involved and give them each a task.
If you have little ones try to find someone to watch them for at least part of the day so you can get some cleaning done uninterrupted.

Have some different accesories to put out in each room after you are done. It will help make it feel fresher.

When you get done - celebrate!!

    gordyneve said...

I just try to take it one room at a time-no esceptions!...otherwise I start jumping from one thing to another & only get everything half done.

My best spring cleaning tip - and for other seasons as well - is to take a task at hand and break it down into simple, more manageable parts. For example, instead of dusting the 'whole house,' I look at it as dusting one room at a time. That way, it's not so overwhelming! :)

    Trina said...

To clean the winter odor out of carpets try sprinkling plain baking soda on them. Use a clean spice container that has a removable lid with holes, and cover all of the carpets with a light dusting of baking soda. Allow the baking soda to remain on the carpets overnight, and in the morning, vacuum away the odors.

When I'm working on a big cleaning project, I like to work with a checklist, so even when it feels like I got nothing done, I can see proof that I got a lot done. My favorite cleaning innovation is the iRobot roomba. While I'm deep cleaning one room, it's wandering around surface cleaning the other rooms. asthenight at gmail dot com
