IPHONE APPS for Toddlers----Mom's opinions! suggestions!
FUN
Okay, so I'm a SAHM, with a social work degree...struggling with insecurity over not working...losing my identity...the typical stuff. Anyway, glomming onto my husbands work I am trying to help him out with his kid's toddler I phone app, plugging it, etc. He and his partner created the free kids' site Kneebouncers.com and their very cool peek a bouncer iphone app. (while I do load after load of laundry;( It's a great site so I have no shame in promoting it. And I think all moms would be delighted to have this one bookmarked. But I don't want this to be a big advertisement for my husband. After all, I'm not getting paid and the laundry and dishes are still there lurking. My kids are too old to use peek a bouncer, so this offering is for others. My kids do USE other apps though and I am curious as to what other moms think about this issue. I wanted widen the scope and make this circle about moms and their opinions about mobile entertainment for kids. What do moms like? How do moms feel about apps etc.

When have you failed as a parent?
FAMILY
While I edit my latest documentary film, "Lost In Living," I occasionally post very short clips from the film and ask a question. (See video attached.) The film follows four mothers who are also artists over a seven year period. Two women were pregnant when I began and two others already had adult children. So many topics and themes have been touched on and I thought I'd share some here and on my blog. (http://maandpafilms.blogspot.com/) Film website: www.maandpafilms.com/lostinliving/ I feel like I fail most as a parent when I expect to get it right with my daughter every time. When I think I have all the answers and don't understand that sometimes she has to find her own solutions. What about you? Check out the video attached and thanks!

Creative Parenting
FAMILYBODY AND SOUL
Hi, I'm a bit new to this, but I published an essay in this month's Elle magazine about my bipolar father's parenting--and how wildly creative his disease made him as as parent. And: how that boxed my mother into the role of saying no, no, no. His extremes pushed her to a parenting role that she might not have gone to on her own. They're both gone now, he 27 years ago, she last year, and as I've been thinking about them, I thought about how my own young son will remember me as a parent. So I wrote about it and I'd be curious to know how other mothers feel about this. Thanks! http://www.elle.com/Life-Love/Society-Career-Power/My-Father-s-Magical-Parenting
