Check it out ladies, we could have told them this months and months ago: Edward, Jacob now have ‘Team Mom’ on their side. Many women are embracing the ‘Twilight’ books as much as teens, maybe more. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/38853859/ns/today-books/

Reading this is makes me think of the fact that many of us, when we are away from what ages us (the mirror, children, men haha) often feel much like we did as young women -ready for it all. Twilight speaks to the young girl that is still in there as we drive car pools and make dinner and pick up socks and lead our lives.

Your points are well taken Julie. I have found that most romances don't seem cool and that is what turns us on about them in the first place! It is true that the idea is completely unconcievable and makes no sense that a vamp would be alone for 100 years and smell a girl from across the room and go nuts. LOL But stranger romances have happened in real life too, and to many of us that would be thought against the odds. I agree Bella is a bit hokey for my tastes but Edward is right up my alley as a man and because he looks so good on Rob Pat! I have to say the escapism of it is what makes me smile and I don't take it to seriously as one shouldn't so read it again with an open mind and a sense of being 17 again when stuff just didn't matter and maybe you will find something in it the second time around as it did for me.

I don't have anything to say about the Mrs. Robinson element (really? why that angle? I mean, the actors are in their 20s.) but I personally find the books creepy and I don't mean because of the vampires, I mean because of the plot. I read a bit of the first one and was not a fan. The characters, their actions, the plot, the dialogue, the motivations and worst of all, the supposed "romance" between the two leads was really not cool in my view. I thought the girl's desperation was disturbing. I didn't even think it was that well-written. But, each to her own. Many love the books.

What else are you reading while you wait for Breaking Dawn? The director of Twilight is working on a new movie-If I Stay-good book but dont think it reminds me of Twilight other than they are 17 in the story..... I dont want a year to go by but a year to wait seems really really long..........

I've gone twice. First time with the ladies, next time with my very mature third grader. (We discussed the more adult scenes in advance.) Her reaction: "That was the best movie I've ever seen in my life." We're listening to the CD of the soundtrack. At first I didn't like it, but now I really do.
