This is the circle to discuss all things Halloween: costumes (for kids and grownups!), party ideas, recipes, decorations, and of course, your favorite candy to steal from your kids' haul. (Oh, come on, you know you do it!)

I got a funny sugestion from a 4 year old at work today, he said that I should dress up as a baked potato for halloween. Not sure how I'm gonna pull it off, but I'm doing it! I think it will involve one of those foil emergency blankets (supposed to be tin foil!)

i was a baked potato on Friday for our Halloween party. The boy who suggested it thought it was hilarious! I wrapped myself up in a foil blanket, wrapped a white pillowcase around my head, and taped some 'butter' (actually styrofoam wrapped in a butter wrapper) on top. My co-worker's teenage son also thought it was hilarious and I gave it to him at the end of the day to wear to his Halloween party. So today, I'm just going to be the tired lady that stayed up too late last night at our community Halloween dance! I have way too much fun at Halloween!

Has anyone else noticed the uhm, inappropriate costumes for girls (tweens/teenagers)? What's going on with this trend? I'm so glad my daughter still likes to make her costumes. K-

I know exactly what you mean - it's hard to find something not sexy, flirty, too short, etc. And I agree with Deborah, this is not just for girls.

It seems all the store-bought options for females in every size are skimpy and way too sexy.

I can't stand it either. So so yucky.

Oh, I hate this. It seemed like it was just teen girls for a while, but now they have really slutty looking costumes for really young girls. Ick.

Not only should Max have won the best costume. Ellen should have won the best mom award. Not many moms would have gone to 5 stores to get all the stuff and spend hours putting it together. The pictures are so great.

Reminding myself that searching for a blue Power Ranger costume for a boy that doesn't fit into child-sized costume, isn't so bad. For you mommas of daughters, I feel for you.

Seven Things You Don't Know About the Great Pumpkin.... Snoopy taking first flight as a World War I ace. Charlie Brown taking grief as rocks pile up in his Halloween bag. And Linus taking to his patch as he awaits the mighty Great Pumpkin. The scenes are so deeply poignant and richly imagined that “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” still resonates 45 years after the holiday classic first aired on CBS to high ratings. “Great Pumpkin” debuted nearly a year after the first animated “Peanuts” special — “A Charlie Brown Christmas” — shocked network executives by winning the night and winning over a nation. (Half of all TVs in the United States were tuned to the first airing of “Christmas.”) Read more: http://www.heraldextra.com/lifestyles/article_a02bae34-01e0-11e1-a929-001cc4c002e0.html#ixzz1cN335Dgm
