POP + POLITICS My friend asked me whether or not Obama was well liked among the African-American side of my family. “Of course!” I exclaimed. “My family has always held a fondness for Obama. But what truly won our hearts – well, mostly for my mother and aunt—was his marriage to a dark-skinned African-American woman.” “Wow, really? Even though they’re both married to White men?” My friend was baffled. “That’s… strange.” Before that point, I had never thought of it as strange at all. But maybe it is. And after that, a troubling question began creeping into my mind: do some Black women hold an interracial relationship double standard?

Hi Mocha Mommys! Well, the Christmas season is here! Does your family have any special traditions for the holidays? I am so excited that hubby is planning a wonderfully quiet, yet elegant Christmas dinner just for us and the kids. We plan to create this tradition each year to focus on Christ and set the tone for later family Christmases. What about you all? What are your plans?

Good morning Mommies! I hope everyone's morning is off to a good start. Mine is going well, I'm at work right now getting through the day. The children are doing fine. Darius seem like himself yesterday evening. I had to end up giving him a dose of Motrin because he got a fever later in the night. When he woke up this morning the fever was gone, thank God. My other 2 haven't been to sick this season. Well, I just wanted to drop in and see how everyone was doing. Take good care!
