So Friday I had a dentist appointment. The two older ones also had teeth cleanings at the same time. So they each took there turn and I was still getting more work done.
When they were finally done with me the dentist commented the kids were getting kind of crazy in the waiting room.
Turns out by saying they were kind of crazy – he meant: loud, wild, out of control, completely and totally inappropriately behaving. God bless the dentist for not saying that though.
HOWEVER, I was so upset with my children for behaving like that. They know better. They have acted a lot better than that too.
So, when we got home yesterday I sent both girls to their room for about 30 minutes. And I also did not allow any TV or computer yesterday.
I’m thinking of also making them write an letter of apology to the dentist’s office for their behavior. They were being loud, obnoxious and crazy right next to where the secretary was working.
It might seem a bit extreme, but I need them to realize that acting like that isn’t just annoying – in a place of business it is downright rude and can interrupt business.
So, what I’m wondering is do you think it’s too much and I should be satisfied with just what I’ve done already? Or have them indeed write the letter?

Oh, Brandie. Is there a mom who hasn’t been there? I don’t think you are being too extreme by making them write the letter. Not because they are such bad kids, but because I think it will help them really understand the point you’re trying to get across. It doesn’t have to be a long letter. I think you are a great mom!
