Does your partner help your children to respect your role as a mother?

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I’m very fortunate in that my husband frequently reminds my kids of all the ways I help our family, and he treats me with respect, so they get the message that they should, too. But I have a friend whose husband (they’re separated) treats her with such contempt that her kids can’t help but pick up that message. I think a dad’s treatment of a mom goes a long way toward showing the kids how they should treat mom, but what can women like my friend do when they are being treated disrespectfully by their partners?
