    In a Hurry Green Curry
Note to self: a bowl of curry is perfect this time of year. A fact that annually slips my mind. If I'm not careful March, April and May can slip right by without a single pot making an appearance at my table. Not this year. Today we enjoyed a bowl bright with peas, asparagus, and tofu swimming in a fragrant, not-overly-rich green chile broth. I humbly suggest that the key to a good springtime curry is to keep things on the light side. And by light more

    Franks and Sauerkraut Paprikash
When my father told me he had made "weenies and sauerkraut", all I could think of was, not another pork and sauerkraut recipe. My dad must have sauerkraut juice running through his veins by this time, given how often he eats it. But this recipe, adapted from a 25-year old McCalls recipe, really is worth reporting. It's sort of a paprikash version (sour cream and paprika) of hot dogs with sauerkraut. It's easy to make, cooks more

    Spring Produce: Finally!!!
yum asparagus and fiddlehead fernsOriginally uploaded by FoodmomiacDylie and I had a BLAST this morning. We left the house at 6:45, and drove down to the market listening to Radio Disney (what else?).Once we arrived, we only had 45 minutes to do our shopping, so it was truly a whirlwind! I re-introduced myself to one of my cheesemaker idols (Judith Schad from Capriole). We met years and years ago at an American Cheese Society conference, and she was more

    Kalyn's Kitchen

Kalyn's Kitchen is a blog about how I'm combining a love for delicious food with a commitment to healthy, lower glycemic eating. These recipes helped me lose over 40 pounds on the South Beach diet, and now that I'm not really dieting any more, I still have managed to maintain my weight loss. My blog has become popular with people who want to try the lower glycemic way of eating, but most people who visit here just come to find great tasting food!

    Mango Lassi Recipe
Last summer I added *drinks* to a category in the recipe archives for Kalyn's Kitchen. Even though I mostly drink (far too much) Diet Coke with Lime and (not nearly enough) water, I figured that some day I'd want to post a drink recipe. Big drum roll for this Mango Lassi recipe, which came from The South Beach Diet Taste of Summer Cookbook, and was so delicious and refreshing when I was hot and dirty after working in the garden. Lately there's been more

Quick Bites: Toasted Sesame Green Beans
“Easy Veggie Dishes” is the theme of our new “Quick Bite” series Lets’ face it, we ALL could use more delicious, easy veggie dishes. I just came back from China and walking around the streets to markets and Chinese “fast food” stalls, I was inspired to throw what’s fresh from the market into a HOT wok, with a few seasonings (ALWAYS chopped garlic), salt or soy sauce, maybe some hot chiles and serve it hot and fast. But then you could more
