I would add my recently-discovered tip to this: once you have made your list and shopped for the week, don't go back to the store. I'm saving about $20 a week by not going back to pick up a gallon of milk--and all the impulse buys that go with it. -
I stay away from packaged foods and try to recreate my own homemade versions of them using recipes I find on the internet. Almost all of the time, I can recreate anything sold in the supermarket for just a fraction of the price. And most of the time, my version tastes better.
