I feel that competition can be an effective instrument for work/life change because it keeps us from becoming stagnant. While we may all become comfortable with our own routine and thoughts and feelings, competition can force us to rethink and possibly “step it up a notch.” Rethinking can help us to come up with new ideas and processes that can be helpful!

Competition can be an effective instrument for work/life change because it helps us to focus on what attributes in others we deem desirable for ourselves. If you’re feeling competition from someone or with someone, it means that there is something about them that you would like to see more of in yourself. If we are smart, we identify those attributes as goals for ourselves, and establish means by which we can meet them.
