Furious about the Michigan primaries...

Because Michigan jumped ahead of other states with its primary, in violation of DNC rules, Obama and Edwards declined to be on the ballot and cannot even be written in. That means, if I want to exercise my voice in favor of one of them, I must vote “uncommitted.” And in Michigan, registered voters of either party may vote in the other party’s primary (but only one party’s) so all the Republicans are courting me madly, hoping that since I can’t vote for my candidate of choice I’ll try to stick my fingers in their race. Grr.

Sorry Becki …
Not sure why the republicans would want you to vote for them though? That seems silly. Since it is not uncommon for people to switch parties in the primaries to get the easiest to person to beat through to the election (And I know there is a name for this tactic but for the life of me, I can NOT remember it right now). Not that I think you would do that, but it seems silly for republicans to open themselves up to that.
Anyway, if it’s not too personal, did you end up voting and how did it go?

On another question .. how come the DNC only wants 4 states to vote prior to February 5? Is that why Wyoming only had the republican primary so far? And if Obama declined Michigan for that reason alone, why is his name on the Florida ballot, which also violates that?
I would assume that Obama would back out of both races then and not just one? Am I missing a second reason for not being on the Michigam ballot or a second reason to be on the Florida ballot?

I’m still trying to figure out why Guiliani is spending all of his time in Florida. To me, that says that he can’t concentrate on more than one thing at a time, if he can’t even campaign in multiple states.
Then again, that’s one more thing than Bush could concentrate on, and he managed to get re-elected…

As I watch Hillary and Bill distort something Obama said about how Reagan was able to pull Independents and Democrats to his side – and imply that Obama supported his policies, I’m feeling really tired of attack-machine politics. I hope they’ll just stick with the issues and focus on where our country needs to be heading.
