We have started to keep a list of things that our family wants to do for fun this summer. Its purpose is twofold: first, to have something to use as a resource when the kids say, “I’m boooored!” and second, so that when we look back on the summer, we have something to look back on, instead of just saying, “Where did the time go?” So far we’ve checked off strawberry picking, and this weekend we’ll check off going to a carnival. I’m looking forward to taking the kids to a drive-in movie, too! What would be on your lists?

Strawberry picking!!! I’m soooo jealous!!!
That would definitely be on our list. We have a list of about 10 places we are aiming to visit this summer. And we have more bike rides/walks. And we want to visit more parks in our town.
Aside from that, I don’t know what we’d put on the list. My oldest would probably say lots of sleep overs though! LOL

Our local library has a program (it ends in October, I think it’s based on a grant) where you can check out a voucher that entitles you to four admissions to a local museum or attraction. I want to do some of those with the kids, too. The first one we want to do is the science center with the planetarium, but that one has never been available when we wanted it. I might just go ahead and take them anyway; they’re really into outer space stuff right now.

Wow! That is nice program at your library! I’m so impressed … I wish ours had that. But the new thing at our library – is the ability to check out video games. Which I guess is good, but it just feels wrong to know you can get video games at the library.
They also have preloaded MP3 players for the kids with the stories on them already (which is new too) and I think I might get some for the kids for the train ride we are taking soon.

I think we can check out video games at our library, but my kids aren’t that into it. I might do it if there was one we were thinking of buying but wanted to try out first. The MP3 player thing is cool, though.

It’s called playaway – http://www.playaway.com/ – and I’m pretty sure any library can join. Let your library know about it! =)

Added another thing to the list, after we’d done it: go to a drive-in restaurant, with carhops and all. But for kids who are used to eating their McDonalds food in the car, I don’t think it had the same charm it did when we were kids…
