Link List Item: Clinton Global Initiative - strategies to improve maternal health

On September 26th, the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative, will include the following in its focus:

“Strategies to Improve Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health” will explore concrete steps to reduce the millions of annual deaths among mothers, newborns, and children. More than half of the approximately 10 million child deaths (98 percent of which are in developing countries) result from preventable or treatable causes such as pneumonia. The deaths of 500,000 women due to pregnancy-related complications could be prevented each year with basic health services. The solutions required to save these lives exist already and are affordable. This panel will identify key interventions that are available and ready for expansion, and highlight new initiatives that can make an immediate and meaningful impact.
