CNN.com - American photography icon Eastman Kodak has seen more than a 90% drop in shares over the past year, which has lead to speculation about a possible bankruptcy. The 131-year-old camera company, whose main focus was film, has suffered financially since the digital revolution. Over the years, the saying “Kodak Moment” has become a popular synonym for a priceless memory captured by a photo. Did you use or do you still use Kodak film? If so, share your most memorable analog Kodak Moment with iReport and tell us what made that moment so special. Your photo could be featured on CNN. http://ireport.cnn.com/topics/726798?hpt=hp_bn1

I need some help. I took a bunch of videos of different playgrounds with my brand new Flip, while we were on vacation. I downloaded them and when I go to look at them, the sound and the video don't synchronize. As I am giving tours of the playgrounds this is a problem. Is there a way to fix this?

The White House's Big Earth Day Announcement by Josh Loposer http://www.greendaily.com/2010/04/22/the-white-houses-big-earth-day-announcement Want a a free home energy upgrade courtesy of the federal government? As part of the White House's official Earth Day festivities, Vice President Joe Biden unveiled the "Retrofit Ramp-Up," a plan to dole out $452M in energy retrofits to 25 communities across the country. Using funds set aside by the Recovery Act, contractors will literally be going door-to-door to offer Americans a chance at a free energy-saving upgrade. The only problem is that you have to live in one of these 25 privileged communities. Lucky for me, my town made the cut. Did yours? (mine didn't make the cut - bummer - but I think this is great! And I know we have lots of Michigan moms on here - the State of Michigan is listed so you'll have to let us know if you get to participate in this!)

Google search undergoes 'most radical transformation ever' (CNN) -- Google search is about to get way more personal. In a change that's been called the "most radical transformation ever" to Google's search engine, the Mountain View, California, company on Tuesday announced an update called "Search, plus Your World," which causes Google's robots to incorporate data from its social network as well as the public Internet when delivering search results to people. "Search is pretty amazing at finding that one needle in a haystack of billions of Web pages, images, videos, news and much more," Google said in a blog post on Tuesday morning. "But clearly, that isn't enough. You should also be able to find your own stuff on the Web, the people you know and things they've shared with you, as well as the people you don't know but might want to ... all from one search box." The company added: "Search is simply better with your world in it." On the prominent blog Search Engine Land, Danny Sullivan writes that the updates fundamentally change the way Google's search engine functions, calling it the "most radical" change ever. "The new system will perhaps make life much easier for some people, allowing them to find both privately shared content from friends and family plus material from across the Web through a single search, rather than having to search twice using two different systems," he writes. "However, Search Plus Your World may cause some privacy worries, as private content may appear as if it is exposed publicly (it is not). It might also cause concern by making private content more visible to friends and family than those sharing may have initially intended." Jenn's Circle

It's Jenn's circle of love, baby!

    LATEST POSTED BY: JennS
If you blog, you have probably heard the question, why do you blog?  Or "What is the point?"  Maybe even "What difference does a blog make?"  It makes a lot of difference.  One blogger can touch hundreds...even thousands of lives. Many mom bloggers have followed a fellow blogger through her trials with ovarian cancer--all three times she has been diagnosed.  I am talking about Lisa Kelly of http://clusterfook.com/ . I would read her stories--in that no holds barred way of writing she always had-- and admire her, weep with her, celebrate with her and laugh with her.  She entered my heart and she made me listen to her. No, I take that back.  I wanted to listen to her.  She had amazing things to say.  Lisa is a mom to two tween girls and a wonderfully loving husband.  She is dying.  When I say she is dying, I mean that she is in her last moments. From the most recent post on her blog as posted by her friend http://secondhandkarl.com/ :"She’s in the final, final stages now, people. So out of her mind with pain and drugs that she often doesn’t even recognize her husband or children. Dude says it’ll be “lucky” if she makes it through the weekend, though he also says it’ll be luckier if God takes her away sooner. She’s that bad.I’d been riding her to get a “last post” done, but it doesn’t look like that happened. There’s a fragment of a post she was working on, which I’ll post here soon, but there won’t be any more posts from Lisa beyond that."That last sentence squeezed my heart so tightly.  I just cannot fathom such a beautiful and amazing voice silenced.  It quite literally brings me to sobbing tears.  (So forgive me if this post doesn't make as much sense as I would like it to.)As moms, I know so many of us feel that heartbreak knowing the family she is leaving behind.  Two tween girls.  A loving husband.  Her family.  Her family. We at the Motherhood want to reach out to those girls.  We want to let them know that their mom leaves behind an amazing legacy with her words.  We want them to know about the hundreds or even thousands of lives she has touched with her blog.  Her blog means something to so many of us. We understand we can never take away the pain.  Nothing we can do can make it right or make it better.  But we want to show her girls in some small way that their mom touched our lives, too.  Many of us strangers.  All of us loving her and praying for her and keeping her in our heart. The Motherhood is going to put together a small package for her girls and husband.  We will be adding small things just to let them know we are thinking of them and we, too, loved and cherished their mother.  We will be putting some homemade items like the beaded bracelets and other things that are made with love, but we also want to hear from you.  Because we are a community here and that is what we do.  We reach out and we care. This community at the Motherhood has shown that time and again.  It is time to do it again, my friends.Do you want to add something? Do you have an idea of something to add to our care package of support?  Please, leave it in the comments so we can get this community together and behind this family--even in a small way.  Even if you just want to leave a message for her family, please do so.  Those words of support mean so very much!  We will send them along with whatever package we give them. Please, help let them know the power their mom and her blog has had in the blogosphere. These girls should know and see in tangible ways how much their mother was loved and the many women she touched with her story.  Again, we know it won't make anything better, but it may just show the girls that the reach their mother had was far, far beyond the inner circle of family and personal friends.  Lisa has touched us and will for as long as people can read her story.  And for as long as we share it with others.Lisa, may you find your peace and leave us knowing you were loved.

CES: 10 Over-Hyped Gadgets SmartMoney.com - Senior consumer reporter and "Deal of Day" columnist Kelli B. Grant traveled booth to booth at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to find the best, the worst, and the most-hyped gadgets and gizmos. Read her dispatches at Pay Dirt. One will weigh your baby and send each reading to a linked smartphone app. Another is supposed to alert dog owners via text message when Spike escapes the yard. And then there's the Solowheel -- which is essentially a battery-powered unicycle that retails for a whopping $1,800. This week, as thousands poured into the Las Vegas Convention Center for the Consumer Electronics Show, Americans got a glimpse of the not-too-distant future. But they also got a peek at a lot of products that critics say may never see the light of day, or have some other quirks. Here are ten that may fit that category. Invest in global vaccines now...Lower threats and costs for the U.S. later. What I love most about my work is getting to collaborate with brilliant people. One of those folks is my colleague Kathleen Guy, the Executive Director at Global Action for Children. Global Action for Children (GAC) generates awareness, policies and funding so every child has the chance to grow up safe, healthy and ready to thrive. GAC works with policymakers, journalists and people who care to ensure every child has the support he and she need to go to school, get their vaccinations and be protected. As mothers in the US, we debate the number of vaccines, the delivery schedule, and more; while research shows that vaccines are saving lives of children in the most impoverished countries. So much so, vaccines are a priority for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, "We invest heavily in vaccines across our portfolio in the hope that one day they can be used to prevent HIV, malaria and TB; wipe out polio; and help save children from dying of diarrhea and pneumonia." Kathleen makes the case of how taking a global approach to wipe out a disease can save thousands of lives and money too. Her article follows: In his State of the Union, President Obama focused on the ways the U.S. can cut our $1.4 trillion federal deficit. Global Action for Children (GAC) took the opportunity to offer a suggestion to Congress and the Administration that will not only save the country money, it will also save millions of children's lives around the world: invest in vaccines. At first glance, it may seem backwards that spending money abroad on vaccines will help lower our national debt, but there are many reasons why it's the right step forward for us and for children.Because of U.S. and global investments in a measles vaccine, the disease has been wiped out in all of North and South America. The global community is getting closer to wiping it out worldwide, but it's not there yet. Ten years ago, measles killed 750,000 people globally. Today, there are fewer than 200,000 deaths from measles each year thanks to vaccines. That's great progress. But measles continues to pose a threat to the health of Americans because diseases don't respect borders. In 2008, there were an alarming 140 reported cases of measles in the United States. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, whenever a case of measles is reported in the U.S., it costs us $200,000 on average to investigate and stop the spread. So in 2008, the U.S. spent $28 million to keep the country measles-free. The thing is, $28 million can pay for enough 26-cent measles vaccines to protect 107 million kids--almost every child born in the world this year--and stop measles before it gets the chance to start. Measles isn't the only costly disease we can prevent from crossing the U.S. border with vaccines. The same principle applies to polio, tetanus, whooping cough, tuberculosis, and many others. As we see it, we have two options. We can save children's lives with vaccines and never even let the problem penetrate the U.S. Or we can deal with the same problem year after year while children continue to die around the world. We'd rather save money and save lives by investing in vaccines for the world's children. Global Action for Children urges the Administration and Congress to choose the same as they aim for ways to improve the health of our nation's debt and our nation's people.
