As a former teacher who had to buy many of my own classroom supplies and saw the effects that a small school budget could have- I'm really excited about the Clorox grants and hope that people really take the time to enter and try to help their schools! http://thingsicantsay-shell.blogspot.com/2010/08/back-to-school-power-bright-future-and.html

Summer Reading Fun with the VTech V.Reader

A recent national survey shows that 8 in 10 moms believe their children get the most benefit from reading. However, 49% of moms don’t think their child reads enough, especially during the summer. That’s why TheMotherhood has teamed up with VTech to help parents encourage their children to read as much as they can this summer. Over the next month, look for reading tips, experiences, creative ideas and advice to get your kids to read more during the summer. Learn what parents and kids think about VTech's new V.Reader, the first animated e-book system, designed to engage kids in an interactive reading experience, offer hours of play value, and help combat the dreaded "summer brain drain."

What a cute idea for inspiring kids to read. Teachers rewrote the lyrics to Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA," and their elementary school students made a "Reading in the USA" music video! The Rice Krispies Making Memories Circle

We are back for 2011 and so excited! Throughout this year we're adding a twist to the Rice Krispies® challenges of the past that we think everyone will love. Through the Rice Krispies Making Memories Challenge, we're kicking it up a notch to add to the fun. The Motherhood is working with some of our favorite mom bloggers - who are working in four teams of four across the country - to create new Rice Krispies recipes and event "displays" based on surprise themes. Check back often for details on the mom bloggers’ Rice Krispies Making Memories Challenges!  We will have four of them throughout the year, so the fun never stops!  If you LOVE Rice Krispies® cereal like we do – or have a great memory about Rice Krispies cereal, tip or recipe you want to share – please join the conversation.

Host your own Picnic with a Purpose!

Want to get ideas on hosting your own Picnic with a Purpose? During April and May, 2009 The Hebrew National® Picnics with a Purpose are uniting local residents in Atlanta, Detroit, New York, Orlando, Philadelphia, Providence, RI, Tampa, Fla. and Virginia Beach, Va. for fun, family grilling and giving back to their local communities. Out of each event we are working with the mom bloggers who hosted the local Picnics to create "activity kits" -- great suggestions on ways to have your own Picnic with a Purpose. You can download activity kits from each of the Hebrew National® Picnics with a Purpose here. You can also share your own ideas, post photos and keep us up to date on any community projects you do in your town. Happy summer!
