Winter Olympics 2010
Do you dream of a gold medal in ice dancing or speed skating? Or do you just like to curl up on the couch and watch some of the best athletes in the world doing their cold-weather thing? The Winter Olympics are almost upon us--let's discuss them here!
LATEST POSTED BY: BeckiVANCOUVER, British Columbia – After nearly three weeks, the Winter Olympics are over, and the world’s obsession with the Games will go on hold until the summer of 2012, when the circus will hit London. It’s been eventful trying to deliver the news, with varying degrees of success: I investigated whether the sport of curling was doomed due to the world’s supply of granite. I asked a man from the Netherlands why he skated in a skeleton outfit. I tried to find Swedish women to talk about Tiger Woods. I met athletes who deserve at least a sliver of the attention Tiger’s mistresses receive. http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/news?slug=dw-winnerslosers022810&prov=yhoo&type=lgnsViewMarch.1st.2010

Just Desserts
Puddings and cakes, and pies, oh, my! It's hard to find anyone who doesn't like dessert. Share your favorite recipes for everything from the humblest drop cookie to the most elaborate torte in this circle.
LATEST POSTED BY: Kayla S5@5 - The five C's of dessert Eatocracy - 5@5 is a daily, food-related list from chefs, writers, political pundits, musicians, actors, and all manner of opinionated people from around the globe. "C" may be for cookie - but that's certainly not good enough for us. Before her several year stint at The French Laundry and the opening of her own sweet venture, Platine Cookies, Jamie Cantor was taught at the Culinary Institute of America to build a dessert menu around the five C's: chocolate, citrus, coffee, cheese and caramel. Incidentally, she was also taught "desserts" is "stressed" spelled backward. But who wants to stress about making fancy, involved desserts during the long, hot, carefree days of summer? Here are some simple, delicious ways to incorporate the five most popular dessert flavors into your summer entertaining. The Five C's of Dessert: Jamie Cantor 1. Chocolate "The chocolate dessert is probably the most popular one at any restaurant. Go big and bold with this one - focus on good quality chocolate and you can turn a simple dessert into one with a ‘wow’ factor. For example, make a tasting of chocolate puddings with a high percentage single origin chocolate. I am really into Pralus chocolates these days; they have some great single origin bars that are fun to try. Use some really cute individual-sized dishes for each type and create a conversation starter for your foodie guests. Take a simple, old-fashioned recipe and turn it into something more sophisticated with the right technique and proper ingredients." 2. Citrus "I find that the people who aren’t chocolate lovers tend to be fans of citrus. In the summer, citrus is so refreshing so go ahead and make a grown-up creamsicle. Make your own fresh orange sorbet and vanilla ice cream and layer them in fantastic popsicle molds; or take the easy way out and buy the sorbet and ice cream, layer them in Dixie cups and stick a popsicle stick in the middle. What are the other 3 C's? Find out here: http://eatocracy.cnn.com/2011/07/07/55-the-five-c’s-of-dessert/?hpt=hp_bn8ViewJuly.8th.2011

I have created this circle to find out everyone's views on Religion, Spirituality, God, The Universe. This Circle is by all means not to judge you, just to throw around the ball to everyone to see what everyone believes in. Everyone is special in every way no matter what religion we practice and what we believe in. That is what makes us so special in every way. 2010: Stepping it UP!
A year ago, we declared, "2009 is going to be MY year!" It has been! Moms in the Motherhood have achieved goals of going back to school, starting businesses, losing weight, and much more. Are we resting on our laurels in 2010? No way! We're stepping it up! This will be our year, too!
LATEST POSTED BY: juliepippertTo save one, you often have to spend the other. (And you never seem to have enough of either, do you?) Here’s how to make the right call. A MUST read. I had several epiphanies while reading this article: I need to listen more to my own voice instead of those "voices in my head" from peer influence, I need to be more realistic about my time and how much I can (and should) take on, and I need to always run through the awesome checklist of questions to ask before deciding between money and time. I think initially it will take time, but in the end, it will become second-nature and well worth it to make better decisions. A little teaser: "Every day you’re faced with a time vs. money dilemma. Should you hire a lawn service to mow the grass or do it yourself? Bake brownies for the PTA meeting or pick up some from the bakery? To make the most clearheaded call, you’ll need to overcome the following three factors. Then figure out how much time and money you actually have―and what that time is worth." http://www.realsimple.com/work-life/money/money-or-time-00000000031091/index.htmlViewMarch.31st.2010
Addicted to the Motherhood
As Brandie and I have concluded, there's no 12 step program for those of us that can't seem to leave this place for more than a couple of hours, so this will be our support system. I don't know what we'll talk about in here, but at least there'll be a place for us to meet. I mean, come on- who DOESN'T want to be able to say,"I'm in a 12 step program because of my kids"?

Not only will you find unique merchandise, but purchases support the host cultural institution. Homemade Holidays!
A group for those of us who want to make our holiday presents for our friends and loved ones. Homemade presents don't have to complicated either, they just have to come from the heart!
LATEST POSTED BY: Kayla SHow to make your own wreath Mother Nature Network - If you'd like to make your own wreath for Christmas, there’s a good chance you have an abundance of plant material growing just a few steps from your front door to make a unique sign of the season. Take a look around your yard or garden for the amazing number of plants that make colorful berries in late fall and early winter and for those with foliage in interesting shapes, colors and textures. Here’s an example of some plants to look for: Hollies, especially variegated ones Cypresses, junipers and similar evergreens (look for stems full of berries) Nandina Magnolia trees Pine trees Eucalyptus trees Japanese maples with red or yellow branches Winterberry Native and ornamental grasses Beech trees (the leaves stay brown through winter) Boxwoods And if you want to give your wreath a regional look, choose plants that are native to your part of the country. For example, if you live in the South, what could be more Southern than magnolia leaves? The easiest way to make your own wreath is to buy a wire frame from a garden center with the greenery already attached. If you want to make your own wreath from scratch, arts and crafts stores usually sell bare wire frames. Christmas tree branches, boxwood stems, magnolia leaves and vines are popular base materials. The only equipment you will need to get started is a pair of clippers, thin green florist wire and a little imagination!
