Hello Everyone, I'm just doing some pre-talk prep. Here's the "Agenda" for you to refer to (if you like):
1.) Overall introduction to healthy/interesting food that both kids AND adults love (breakfast, lunch & dinner).
2.) Making Meals Work for Everyone: How to make one meal that dressed up for parents and dressed down for kids, eliminating the need for cooking two separate meals each night!
3.) Educating the Littlest Consumer: Take children food shopping at a variety of venues to introduce to the process of selecting new foods and flavors.
4.) Is the concept of "sneaking" healthy foods into picky eaters' meals more beneficial or harmful?
5.) Different ways of Cooking Foods for Taste Appeal (a child may say they do not like the food but don't count it out just yet!)
and
6.) Rewards for Trying New Foods & Flavors (reward doesn't always mean junk food or candy: also use as an opportunity to make healthier choice or try new flavors)
I can't wait to hear your thoughts!
We'll be talking about how to make the ordinary extraordinary and also how to make a versions of a meal for all members of the family by ages and stages!

kdc521 posted on Forum Discussion We Heart Tomatoes!
ConAgra recently presented some impressive research results at the American Dietetic Association's Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo, suggesting that the nutrients in tomatoes may have a measurable impact on heart disease prevention. Using Hunt’s tomatoes is a great way to get a significant source of fiber, Vitamin C and the antioxidant lycopene into your diet. In fact, according to a study reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, lycopene absorption is two to three times greater in canned tomato products than raw tomatoes. Also, Hunt’s tomatoes are flash-steamed to help them keep their backyard-garden-fresh taste, are 100% natural and contain no artificial preservatives or ingredients.
kdc521 participated in the Live Talk Kids, School and Food
I must say that for school lunches, those Americanized bento style lunch boxes have been SUCH a help this year. I'm no longer stuck in the sandwich rut. ("Rut" seems to be my word for the day!)
Let's talk about kids and food and the school year. School lunches, getting dinner on the table during our busy weeks, trying to eat healthily and with variety, etc. We have a fantastic group of mom bloggers hosting and look forward to a great, hands-on, helpful and inspiring conversation!!! Join us! And if you have some favorite recipes, stories, ideas, bring them!!!!!
