Jo-Lynne participated in the Live Talk Tweens and Heading Back to School

Hi everyone! Psyched to be here. My son is 11, soon to be 12, and I have an 8 year old and a 5 year old as well!

From making new friends to managing classes and homework, heading back to school can be filled with sweat-inducing moments.  During this class, renowned parenting expert Rosalind Wiseman, author of the New York Times bestseller Queen Bees and Wannabes, will lead us in a discussion about how to get back into the school routine.  Along with her blogger co-hosts, Rosalind will offer advice on guiding tweens through classes, after-school sports, rough spots with friends, bullying and more.

Jo-Lynne participated in the Live Talk The Science of Play

Hey everyone!

Play is the work of our children.  Join experts to talk about the latest science behind the Science of Play and hear what you need to know now for your kids. Leading the conversation are Susan Magsamen, Director of Interdisciplinary Programs at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Co-Developer of the Neuro-Education Initiative in the School of Education, and Michael Sarbanes, Executive Director of Partnerships, Communications, and Community Engagement at Baltimore City Schools.

One thing I've been meaning to do is to make laminated cards to take with me to restaurants, outlining the things I cannot have (with gluten, people oftentimes don't get it, and cross contamination is such a huge concern.) It might be nice to have those made up for my son too, to hand to parents for playdates and such.

Join the experts to talk about ensuring your kids have fun and safe experiences at camp, on playdates or sleepovers. Lori Sandler of Divvies Bakery will lead a discussion with Renee Flax of the American Camp Association, Jenny Kales of Nut-Free Mom, Sandy Rubenstein of Camp Wingate*Kirkland and Abby Shapiro of Campsource.  Come with your questions and own best approaches. The focus is all about managing allergies and having fun at camp and on sleepovers and playdates.

My son is severely allergic to tree nuts and sesame. He's going to sleep-away camp for the first time this summer, and I can't help but be a bit worried.

Confused about how to join the chat.

Wed, Oct 7th, at 1 pm ET: Myra Goodman will talk about how our food choices make a bigger impact on the planet than the car we buy and how we can live organically within a budget. And she'll share her favorite recipes.
