Join us to learn how women have used blogging and social media to inspire public health change in their communities, from preventing asthma to fighting cancer and HIV/AIDS. We'll come together to talk about tangible actions women can take to support and inspire public health efforts in their communities. Folks from the American Cancer Society and some amazing, health-conscious bloggers will be on hand to share stories and information. Women are the key to making our families, communities and planet healthier - let's get together and share best practices in how social media strengthens our collective voice.

For a moment I'd like to highlight the excellent work of the American Cancer Society. They were one of the first organizations to utilize a group of bloggers in a Blogger Advisory Council. We are asked for input, we blog when we want to and have helped raise awareness about the More Birthdays Campaign. I think it is important when organizations ask for help from bloggers that they don't go overboard and allow them to give of their time as it fits into their own schedules. I appreciate this about ACS! Thank you ACS!

I have devoted my life to making a difference in the lives of others and when I became active in social media I continued this mission. I have utilized facebook, my blog and twitter to raise awareness about a number of health issues including cancer, HIV/AIDS, obesity (I documented my 50 lb weight loss online), asthma and many others. Utilizing social media I've raised close to $7,000 to help in the battle against cancer. I am also a proud participant in the American Cancer Society Blogger Advisory Council.

ReneeJRoss participated in the Live Talk International Women’s Day and How Cancer Touches Our Lives As Women
So what is everyone doing to help prevent cancer in their personal lives?
In The Motherhood, we know cancer touches all of us. On March 8, International Women’s Day, we’ll gather to take a moment as a community to acknowledge the impact of cancer as a woman’s issue. We'll share our stories about cancer and our loved ones and the transformative experiences that cancer can bring into our lives. And we’ll take a simple but powerful step to fight women’s cancers worldwide. Join the American Cancer Society on this important day to share your stories and learn how our voices can make a huge difference to women around the world who are fighting cancer.

ReneeJRoss participated in the Live Talk A Virtual Breakfast with Kellogg and "Share Your Breakfast"
I love this program and posted about it today and keep spreading the word!
Kellogg and Action for Healthy Kids will be with us through LIVE video feed on March 1, 2011, at 11:30 am ET to tell us more about the amazing "Share Your Breakfast" program. Nearly one in four kids in America struggle with hunger. Kellogg is asking people to take a picture of their breakfast and share it at ShareYourBreakfast.com or text a photo of your breakfast (or a description!) using the word "Share" to 21534. When you share your breakfast, Kellogg, through its partnership with Action For Healthy Kids, will share a breakfast with a child who needs it. Please join Trinh Le, senior brand manager at Kellogg, and Dr. Reginald Washington, chair of the board of Action for Healthy Kids, to chat about the program and what they are doing to help share breakfast with children who might otherwise miss out, and to fight childhood hunger in the United States.

I made wheat free/gluten free bread and used it to make a french toast sundae made with frozen bananas as an ice cream substitute! http://cutiebootycakes.blogspot.com/2010/08/pure-decadence-homemade-wheat-free.html

This isn't dessert but I heard someone was dealing with allergies/sensitivity to wheat/gluten. Pizza is a favorite for kids - try making crust with cauliflower! http://cutiebootycakes.blogspot.com/2011/02/valentines-day-treats-healthy-version.html
