DebiP participated in the Live Talk P&G Thank You Mom

Okay. Now, as far as mommy bloggers. I want to thank Dawn (notgoingpostal.com) for her beautiful voice, wicked sense of humor, unbelievable writing talent and sweet friendship. Also, my dear friend who writes an anonymous blog about an anonymous topic that nobody know about just so she can be her raw self.

We're coming together for a live "Thank You Mom" celebration to acknowledge and thank the amazing women online we turn to for their stories, laughs, support, wisdom, bravery, smarts, understanding, voices, truth, more laughs and the great friendships we've made. Join us!! Thank the mom bloggers who mean the world to you and say why! And, be sure to enter the P&G Thank You Mom Reunion Contest to win $1,000 to visit your mom: http://www.thankyoumom.com/

What a wonderful idea. My mom's not a blogger, but she inspires me. She's always been such an amazing example of unconditional love. And here's the kicker. At 70, she up and started a volunteer tennis ball recycling project to find balls to put on the bottom of walkers for the elderly in the nursing homes for which she serves as ombudsman. In five years, she's collected and recycled more than 20,000 tennis balls!

Whoops, I came late and have to leave early. Kids getting off the bus. Thanks for the few moments of encouragement and interesting dialog.

We're talking with Ellen Galinsky about her brand new, already bestselling book "Mind in the Making" (it's #1 on Amazon's parenting list) about the seven most important "life skills" for children growing up today. Ellen wants our kids to learn for grades and learn for life. To communicate effectively, work well with diverse groups of people, think outside the box, and be ongoing learners. And to have all that, they need these seven skill: Focus and Self Control; Perspective Taking; Communicating; Making Connections; Critical Thinking; Taking On Challenges; Self-Directed, Engaged Learning. "It may well be the next iconic parenting manual, up there with Spock and Leach and Brazelton, one that parents turn to for reassurance that all is more or less okay, reminders of how to make it better and glimpses of what’s to come." - Lisa Belkin, The New York Times, April 29, 2010 Join the conversation!

I'm sorry I'm so late. But I have a question. I hope no one's asked it yet. How do these recommendations apply to special needs children? Or is that an entirely different set of issues?
