mommystory participated in the Live Talk Navigating Food Allergies: Advocating for Your Child at School
Sorry everyone, but I have to run! Will check back in later tonight to catch up with more of the conversation!
Join Lori Sandler, Gina Clowes founder of Allergy Moms, www.allergymoms.com, Barbara Rosenstein from the Food Allergy Initiative, www.faiusa.org (the world's largest private source of funding for food allergy research), and Maria Acebal from The Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, www.foodallergy.org and a great team of co-hosts to talk about getting your child safely settled into school, and working with your school to keep your child safe and included. We'll talk about reasonable accommodations in schools for children with allergies and how you can get them.

This has been a great chat - I learned so much in an hour!
During the Navigating Food Allergies class, Lori Sandler, founder of Divvies Bakery and author of The Divvies Bakery Cookbook will share her experience and expertise on cooking for kids, family members and friends with food allergies. She will cover the basics of clean preparation and understanding ingredients, and then she will walk you through a food allergy-friendly recipe that looks good and tastes great – whether you have allergies or not!

I'm thankful that no one in my family has life-threatening allergies, but my husband is lactose-intolerant and allergic to onions, and my older daughter can't tolerate cinnamon and artificial colors. You have to be so careful at reading labels when buying foods!

So who has been using the http://www.readyseteat.com website for new recipe ideas? I love how easy it is to search by ingredient - and it even shows me which ingredients are on sale in my area!

I'm a nurse, so getting a flu shot is a must for me each year. Last year I worked in labor & delivery, where we were all required to get flu shots. Good thing I did, too - it seems like everyone I knew had the flu last year!

This time of year, many of us will get flu shots, but some people aren't so lucky. We’ve armed 10 amazing bloggers with five Walgreens flu shot gift cards each to give to people in their community who need them. It’s a gift of good health to offer anyone - from local families in need to the elderly - who might be vulnerable to illness this year. We're sharing our Random Acts of Wellness missions here and look forward to hearing your acts of wellness during flu season, too!
