In many ways, my son's dairy sensitivity helps us ensure that we're providing healthy food for our kids because almost every thing is homemade or vegan. He also has a strong reaction to food dyes which other people don't take seriously. When he takes a homemade cupcake to a birthday party, I know he's not having food dyes either.

Gina Rau participated in the Live Talk Family Dinner: Talking with Laurie David About Great Ways to Connect With Your Kids One Meal At a Time
I'm so glad that Michelle posted something on FB about today's chat...didn't have this one on my calendar & love the topic. Can't wait to get my hands on Laurie's new book too!
Laurie David, whose new book "Family Dinner: Great Ways to Connect With Your Kids One Meal At a Time" just came out last week and is already in its second printing (!), is leading a chat on all aspects of getting our families to the table and enjoying the food and time together. Co-hosting with her are a fabulous group of mom bloggers!! Here's what Tom Hanks said about Laurie's book: “If you can muster the energy for only one tool to raising a healthy family, make it having family dinner. This book will help you make those meals easy, fun, and of lasting impact.” And Dean Ornish said this, “A great fun cookbook, but it’s so much more than that — it’s an empowering recipe for joy, health, and healing.” Join us for a GREAT conversation!! http://thefamilydinnerbook.com/ http://www.lauriedavid.com

I'm late to the chat, & will need to catch up on the many great ideas here. My question is around working with brands. How did you initially get started down that road? Did you reach out direct to them? I'd love to hear your thoughts on approach. Thanks!

Gina Rau participated in the Live Talk Michelle Conlin and her "No Impact" Year
I'm curious how we'd be able to see the movie if we don't have cable? I've been waiting (anxiously) for years since I first heard about the project.
Michelle Conlin and her husband Colin Beavan (aka No Impact Man) spent a year living "off the grid" in New York City - making as little environmental impact as possible. For Michelle - described as Colin's "espresso-guzzling, retail-worshipping wife" who went along with idea, begrudgingly - that meant no elevators, no television, no cars, busses, or airplanes, no toxic cleaning products, no electricity, no material consumption, and no garbage. Let's all talk about: - What decisions or sacrifices have you made to support your family's larger dreams/goals? - How did you feel about the decisions then and now? - Sharing our tips, tricks and ideas for minimizing our impact on the planet - and how these are working out for us and our families. ___________________________ Be sure to tune in to watch the film, No Impact Man, as it makes its world TV premiere on Planet Green on 8/28 at 10 pm ET!
