pgoodness General question: I'm guessing that the seeds need a sunny place indoors to get started. My kitchen gets the best sun, so will I likely have a counter covered in little pots?? Where do you all start your seeds?

Grace Romero You can use your sunny place indoors, but you will need to take care turning these pots around. Seedlings bend towards the light source, and you might end up with crooked seedlings. We have indoor fluorescent lamps, but some more serious gardeners buy plant grow lamps. Either way, be careful not to overwater. Seedlings should have enough air movement to keep these from damping off.

MammaLoves This is a problem for me too with kids and a dog, etc.

Assertagirl I usually set up a few shop lights in my basement, placed a couple of inches above the growing surface. Works great.

pgoodness So shop lites with fluorescent lights are a good alternative for sun? Who knew!! That actually makes it a lot easier, I think.
