  • auntiethesis I just wanted to share our great win with The Motherhood and say thank you again and also a huge thanks to Hebrew National for sponsoring the Picnic with a Purpose giveaway. We held our picnic party this past Sunday. My middle son graduated college in May and is on his way to his teaching assignment with Teach for America; he leaves tomorrow morning to fly to New Orleans for orientation and then he'll be in Phoenix for a month of training before returning to teach high school English for the next two years in New Orleans. I'd never heard of Teach for America until my son applied to work with them last year. I call it the Peace Corps for teachers except you are assigned for two years to a city in the United States that is in need of teachers in a lower-income rural or urban public schools. Our party was a combined graduation and send-off party for my son. Many of his high school teachers came to see him off as well as family, friends and neighbors. All of us couldn't be prouder of Jared and we know he's going to make a big difference in his students' lives. The party supplies and hot dogs were put to good use. I know it sounds "canned" but everyone really did like the hot dogs; my sister's boyfriend claims Hebrew National hot dogs are the best hot dogs around and I don't think anyone at our party disagreed; all five packages disappeared. While I had left-over pizza and chicken, there wasn't a lone hot dog to be found when the party was over. Hopefully, I've attached a photo of my oldest son (left) and his brother, our new teacher, enjoying one of the hot dogs.
