« Go back to the talk

  • Kimberle The only answer I keep returning to is that we need to stand up and take charge. That means taking control of not only our own diet but maintaining a healthy diet and good fitness role modeling for the entire family. McDonald's has been wooing your children since before they were able to speak. Moms, it's time to take back the reigns. Have you read these book? If not, I encourage you to do so.

My point is that control is the answer to the dilemma we face when we look in the mirror. If we don't like what we see, it's time to change our minds. Some of that is acceptance but a lot of it takes action... and practice. Bottom line: YOU'RE IN CHARGE.

    • Emily That is such a good reminder! Perhaps, here together, we can support each in doing just that - changing our minds and how we talk to ourselves!

    • Brandie We almost 100% cut out fast food, especially McDonald's when I read that chicken mcnuggets have a form of butane on them. Yeah, for real. Because, you know, that's totally what you wnat your preschool/child munching on. Blech.

    • Kimberle I am convinced that fast food is the devil and Ronald McDonald handed him the pitchfork.

    • Becki I talk with my kids a lot about the fact that the more food looks like it did in nature, the healthier it probably is. That's something they can handle in terms of understanding whether a food is good for them or not. An apple looks just like it did hanging on the tree. A Hostess cupcake? Looks like nothing found in nature.
