  • Kimberle Hitting that plateau: So you've been doing the same workout for months
and you've seen some good results but now your body has stopped
    reacting. What do you do?

I am an aerobics instructor, teaching 3 to 4 classes a week, but I
needed a personal trainer to get me into shape last year because my
body was so used to my workout that it stopped reacting. NOTHING is
worse than putting your heart and soul into a fitness regimen...and
nothing happens. Of course you want to quit but that's not the answer.
The answer is to switch it up.

Try a yoga dvd. Walk every day holding hand weights while your kid is
at soccer practice. Buy a jump rope and actually use it. Incorporate
exercise into TV time by doing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHQmRINu4jU during each commercial. The kids can do it too!

    • Becki I need to exercise more, if only for my kids to learn that it's important to do, especially my daughter.

    • Kimberle Buddying Up is the best way to make sure you follow through!

    • Brandie There is nothing worse than the thought of exercising in front of people IMO! LOL! I don't want people to watch me do that stuff. Walking, I could walk with others maybe even bike ride LOL! It's my own personal thing. I'm like a 16 year old when it comes to exercise - I assume that everyone must be watching me and then will laugh. Completely ridiculous, right?

    • juliepippert Brandie, that's why I failed at every gym membership and exercise class! The rule of thumb is commit to a class and go with a friend, and I felt like a failure b/c it never worked. Then I discovered I am a Solitary Exerciser! I have yoga for my TV to do at home and otherwise jog/walk solo on a local track.

    • Kimberle Brandi, I promise, no one is looking at you. And also, there's a great way to fix that : stand in the back of the class! But get there!

    • Brandie Well, I do it at home, which is great since a) I have no sitter and b)funds are tight so I couldn't afford the sitter or to pay for the class LOL!

    • Kimberle Brandie, that's awesome!! Some people (like me) can't stick with an exercise dvd. I need someone in the flesh to yell at me.

    • Brandie ROFL! I have been using EA Sports Active, and they don't yell per se, but she'll say "You're not going down far enough. I know you can pick up the pace." It actually works to motivate me. Of couse, I've been known to yell at her that she's not even real so she can go suck it, but I still push harder LOL!
