To clean your windows, first, raise your screens about 1/2 inch, close all windows. go outside, use your garden hose to spray down the entire window, frame, window, screen etc.

This will get all the winter gunk off of the window, screen and sill. By raising the screen, you allow all the garden hose water to drain away.

Make a solution of cleaning suds with warm water and a few drops of dish soap. Wash windows inside and out, enjoy the fresh air!

Make a habit of checking the batteries in the smoke detectors during spring cleaning especially.

Nothing feels better for spring cleaning than taking everything out of the kitchen cupboards, washing them out, and arranging everything so that it looks clean and organized.

My tip is to use a vinegar and water cleaning solution.

Unfortunately (for me), my best tip is good old fashioned elbow grease, coupled with 'gotta get it done'... it's SO hard to get started, but once I've started, seeing things look clean, picked up and right again helps motivate me to keep going.

Windows side open and start cleaning from top ti the bottom as dirt and dust falls downward, you dont want to clean twice

My best cleaning tool in the Spring is my pressure washer! LOL Everything gets pretty grimy in the long MN winters and I use the pressure washer to clean everything up. No scrubbing, no breaking my back. Just standing there spraying!

My tip is to not let the regular cleaning slide during the cold months. By keeping on top of everything it makes Spring Cleaning so much easier.

Make sure you have all your supplies on hand before you start.
start in one room and completely clean it before moving to another.
Get the rest of the family involved and give them each a task.
If you have little ones try to find someone to watch them for at least part of the day so you can get some cleaning done uninterrupted.

Have some different accesories to put out in each room after you are done. It will help make it feel fresher.

When you get done - celebrate!!

I just try to take it one room at a time-no esceptions!...otherwise I start jumping from one thing to another & only get everything half done.

Pull everything out of a room, clean from the top down, and sort out before you put things back!

    JRG said...

Move the furniture before you start and work your way from the walls. Lots of dirt there to move first.

My spring cleaning tip is to not just clean but get rid of the clutter. If you have not used it in the past few months, it goes. Makes cleaning the rest of the year much easier.

My Spring cleaning TIP...acquire volunteers to help out with the work and get it done early in the season so you have the rest of the season to enjoy a clean palace.

    Tammie said...

My best spring cleaning tip - and for other seasons as well - is to take a task at hand and break it down into simple, more manageable parts. For example, instead of dusting the 'whole house,' I look at it as dusting one room at a time. That way, it's not so overwhelming! :)

To clean the winter odor out of carpets try sprinkling plain baking soda on them. Use a clean spice container that has a removable lid with holes, and cover all of the carpets with a light dusting of baking soda. Allow the baking soda to remain on the carpets overnight, and in the morning, vacuum away the odors.

Don't rush to wash rugs, quilts, and clothing that you want to hang outside to dry. Wait until pollen season is over so you don't bring pollen and other outdoor allergens indoors (I actually have a post about this publishing tomorrow on my blog, able2able... Your Special Needs Resource Directory).

When I clean the windows, I spray with Windex then wipe with old newspaper. The newspaper doesn't streak and really makes the glass shine.

    Rebecca R. Bibbs said...

Do your part for the environment and clean up clutter by using newspapers to wash the windows.

when doing your spring cleaning, don't open the windows if you are allergy-prone. The pollen will get into your house, and your allergies will suffer. Of course if you have an air purifier, that should take care of any pollen entering your house.

I separate the house into different sections and tackle them one at a time, this helps me from feeling overwhelmed, thanks!

I'm a big list maker so I make a list of all the chores I need to do and pick a few to do each day, so that way I don't feel so overwhelmed. I'm another who uses vinegar often in my cleaning. And I LOVE the Mr. Clean magic eraser!! Thanks so much!

Set realistic goals so you don't overwhelm yourself and end up doing nothing. Start with the top floors and work your way down.

Make a list and take it day by day. Focus on one project at a time. I tend to get distracted and will not completely finish something so if I make a list and stay on task that helps.
