My sister in law lost a baby at 28 weeks and had to bury her son. It was devastating but she did go on to have another child. She was just very cautious.

You are so right Kayla. That is why programs to help are so important - to give every opportunity.

I am so sorry. I always wonder how families get through such a loss at such a late stage in pregnancy. I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks and know that it's something I still think about to this day. I am just so incredibly sorry.

Oh, Elisa, I'm so sorry. I lost twin boys in utero/medical intervention just a bit older than that. It still aches.

That's absolutely terrible. I'm so sorry, Elisa. I found this on the ONE.org website yesterday and it seems to relate here...“In the world’s poorest countries, millions of children die each year from treatable, preventable causes such as diarrhea."

We have hospitals and all sorts of medicine and we aren't able to save babies sometimes. Can you imagine losing a child when it's absolutely preventable? It breaks my heart...

    • We lost our tiny grandson at 23 weeks in utero. There was nothing that could be done. The pain has been startling. How many moms have lost babies and children...and they don't have to!

Former grassroots organizer here...what will you be doing with the petition? I tend not to sign them, because I'm not sure they influence any law makers and fear that people think "well I helped because I signed the petition" when there is still so much to do.

Yay! It is such a great way to honor Mother's Day, too. One of the best ways to recognize Mother's Day, actually!

    • One of the hardest things about these issues is feeling powerless to do anything about it. Here's one simple thing you can do to help - click here and sign the petition to help ONE get funding for vaccines to help stop diarrhea and pneumonia ... two of the biggest killers of children in poor countries. It's in the yellow box on the right side of the page. http://bit.ly/jRCoEw
