We have a salsa garden going since we don't have a lot of space. We all love the fruits of our labor!

You can combine fairy house making with great literature as well. And there are some wonderful fairy movies for rainy days.

This year we planted a pizza garden. Of course, it's round and has lots of tomatoes, basil and other veggies. The kids thought it was hilarious that we were planting everything in a big circle.

YES! This is new for us this year! We have a family garden, and a smaller one just for the kids. We're getting together with some little friends soon to make Fairy Houses for our gardens.

They have learned so much from talking about it, and picking everything out. They don't even realize it!

Wow. That is fantastic. Nothing better than to see the fruits of your labor. Also great way to talk about history, food, sustainability, etc. And they taste great! Nothing better than an home grown tomatoe

We love geocaching. My 7 yr old especially, since she loves the trading. Some of the caches are pretty bad, so we always pout in 2 items when we take 1, to try and make the caches better for the next family to come along.

The National Wildlife Federation has a big geocaching program going too. A lot of people geocached for our B Kind 2 Earth Day program with NWF and Nickelodeon on Earth Day this year and had a blast!!!

For my preschooler we made paper paw prints and played "blue's clue's." Same concept and tons of fun. I love the idea of taking it outside!

We did geocaching with the baby and even though I don't think he knew what was going on, it was a great time!

The Dragon Hunt activity in Susan's book (my daughter's favorite) is like a no-cost lowtech geocaching. She loves it.

It is so much fun Erin! We even do it when we are on vacation or visiting our local parks since geocaches are all over (international even).

    • One activity we do as a family that is fun and educational is geocaching! The kids are learning about GPS coordinates and using their brains thinking about where the treasure might be. If is a great family fun activity!
