Anytime I've had a conversation with one of the amazing friends I've made through blogging, anytime I've had an amazing experience (sleeping with penguins, Emily!)...I count my blessings a lot.

For me it's any private email I get from a reader saying "I never comment, but thank you so much for saying this. I really needed to hear it today."

Oh this one's easy! It's ALL of the wonderful praise reports I get after a Blogalicious conference. It's crazy, but the sense of community and support really touches lives.

fun question! i love Cooper's answer. : ) And Christine, when I was at Camp Shutter Sisters I was totally BLOWN AWAY and reminded of how important our communities are. it's amazing to see something that started virtually blossom into something like that. i am still in awe.

When I wrote about my miscarriage and women came in droves to tell their stories or share support. I am constantly amazed at how much complete strangers can lift me up.

One of my kids was working on a homework assignment regarding a favorite family memory when my youngest hollered out, "Go and check mommy's blog!" :)

I did a 4 part interview series with the author of "Raising Cain", a classic book on raising boys. SO many moms of boys expressed their gratitude (especially those who didn't grow up with brothers), because they finally "got" their sons.
Sharing information that improves people's lives - that's what I love the most about blogging!

That's an AWESOME question. Really, anytime my words inspire somebody, I get goosebumps.

I once wrote a post about a girl from a Nat Geo photo taken right after Hurricane Katrina. I wrote a letter to her on my blog about how that photo affected me.

She found my blog and read the post and I think we all had tears.

I wrote about a very personal experience a few years back because I just needed to get it out there. I expected nothing. What i received was amazing comments and emails....my heart was full and I was so glad i decided to put it out there.

For me, hands down, it's when I'm at conferences, surrounded by people I love and who get what I do. This community has supported me through more than I can begin to share!

    • Does anyone have a favorite blog moment they'd like to share? Something that made you think, "Wow, I'm glad I do this."

Oh andtravel/vacations. now that my kids are older I am looking at vacations that will work for our whole family--that will provide us with exciting activities/memories.

Oh Liz, technology, clothing/shoes, higher education, sports equipment, food--just to start. My kids may develop their own tastes, but I'm the one who does the buying. I spend thousands on sports equipment, technology and clothing.

Maybe this is the next trend.... there's not as many mom blogs that talk about teens, though. As our kids reach the age of being able to google themselves, many have chosen to stop writing about their antics.

LOL -- of course that is when the antics get really good... lots to work from in my house (girls that are 16 and 12)

They'll be getting it soon enough. There's a lot of us in your shoes. We need to educate them.

I will answer from the marketing perspective -

marketers are realizing more and more that moms are a broad, complex niche. But the facts are that new moms are more engaged, more influential on the household purchases (like their kids' clothes) and spend far more money.

It's like you get smarter as you get older. Heh.

Are there any particular categories you think are missing the boat, Amie?

I think there are some forward-thinking companies that get it. But they're def in the minority!

Tracey, yes! Teens are seen has a huge market. But who do they think is giving teens the money to shop? I mean my 9 y.o. asked for an iPhone for Christmas (NO he did not get one). But my kids play sports, they are online. They are becoming interested in clothes. Shoot! My teenager could be a poster boy for cologne.

I don't think media in general gets this, Amie.

yes, the tween and especially teen markets are hugely overlooked. there's got to be a shift soon there, doesn't there?

That's a great question Amie -- it seems like such a ripe opportunity. And the pitches are either about diapers or, well, lubricant. Kidding. Sort of.

I hope so...I have a teen now and feel like I could really contribute by finding advertisers that have products closer to his age group, but just don't know where to begin.

This is all we talk about at KidzVuz! It's as if you're not a mom once your kids hit school age - and forget beyond that.

I'm where you are. My daughters are 11 and 13 and it's been years since I wrote about them on a regular basis. Marketers need to mature as we do.

Unfortunately, although blogging has come a long way the last few years, most companies are light years behind. They'll get there...eventually.

    • Now that mom blogging has been around for a while, do you think marketing folks will come to realize that not all of us have kids in diapers? Or that we're not all at home cooking dinner every night? As a mom with older kids, I'm constantly amazed at the missed opportunities on the part of marketers. What I'm buying are much bigger items now.
