The final tally is in – 36,160 comments and shares for Blogust 2013! More than 36,000 vaccines are going to kids around the world because so very many people commented on and shared the gorgeous Blogust blog posts every day this August!
36,160 comments and shares in August! August – when people are eeking out their last summer vacations, trying to turn off all their social media gadgets and anticipating back to school. Isn’t that just amazing?!?
Congratulations to everyone who made Blogust 2013 such a huge success – the UN Foundation and the Shot@Life team, incredible partners who dove fearlessly into creating Blogust 2012 and 2013; the talented Blogust bloggers who each day wrote stunningly beautiful blog posts about the milestones of raising kids age 1 -31; the Shot@Life Champions who kept up a drum-beat of support all month; and Chrysula Winegar and Morra Aarons-Mele who we adored working with on Blogust.
I’d like also to pause for a moment and acknowledge all that’s been created with Shot@Life and Blogust in such a short time. Shot@Life launched a little over a year ago (in April 2012), and since then has succeeded in creating an enormous, heart-felt drumbeat online for the importance of vaccinating kids around the world to protect them from dangerous diseases. So many, many people came forward to say, yes, kids should not die from vaccine-preventable diseases. Walgreens is donating more than 36,000 vaccines as a result of this program and we all had a hand in bringing that about.
To everyone who posted, commented and shared Blogust this August, thank you! Thank you for having a hand in creating the success of Blogust and the month-long online conversation that stands apart as a supreme example of the best of the web and people in action for good.
The Motherhood is beyond honored to get to work with the UN Foundation and Shot@Life and to celebrate the success of Blogust 2013!
