The Motherhood Recognized by Industry Peers: Earns PRSA 2016 Agency of the Year and Best in Show

The Motherhood was named 2016 Agency of the Year by the Public Relations Society of America’s Pittsburgh chapter at its annual Renaissance Awards ceremony on January 28, receiving recognition for outstanding contributions to the public relations industry. The Renaissance Awards program is a gathering of the region’s top public relations and communications professionals from leading agencies, corporations, non-profit organizations and educational institutions.

Our work received the highest honor of the evening, Best in Show, for The Stork OTC campaign, which also won a Renaissance Award the Digital Social Media Campaign category. This entry was the only entry, out of nearly 90, that received a perfect score from the judging panel*. This award-winning campaign engaged 30 influential bloggers who had experience with fertility issues for a social media campaign to generate awareness of The Stork at-home conception device’s move from prescription to over-the-counter (OTC) availability. The program generated 57 million impressions, a trending hashtag and contributed to the device selling out at CVS/pharmacy online.

The Motherhood earned top accolades at PRSA Renaissance Awards Ceremony, including Agency of the Year and Best in Show, among other awards.

The Motherhood also received a Renaissance Award in the Online and Social Blogger Outreach category for the Brain Chase campaign. This 2015 campaign included a partnership with the team at Brain Chase, a new online “adventure learning” program for kids, aimed at helping them avoid summer learning loss. The Motherhood engaged a strong team of influential bloggers to help raise awareness and drive signups for the summer 2015 program. During the four-month campaign, the blogger team drove one-third of total sign-ups.

In both the Digital Social Media Campaign category and Community Relations & Public Service category, The Motherhood earned Awards of Merit for the P&G Power of Clean campaign. For this campaign, The Motherhood partnered with P&G and Ketchum to execute a campaign behind the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water Program. Twenty bloggers initiated a conversation about “Power of Clean” and drove video views, helping to deliver a donation of 126,000 days of clean water.

The Motherhood’s entry for the United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life Campaign was also recognized with an Award of Merit in the Community Relations and Public Service Category. For this campaign, we worked with United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life to engage 50 influential bloggers to participate in a “blog relay,” sharing inspiring quotes on blogs and social channels. Each comment, like or share of their posts triggered one vaccine donation, with an overall total of 60,000 donations in four weeks.

Our partner agency on the recent Bolthouse Farms Kids program, Smith Brothers Agency, also took home a Renaissance Award in the Marketing Communications category for the “Snack Mob Sampling Tour.” To elevate the Bolthouse Farms Kids brand in Pittsburgh and generate awareness of its new products in partnership with Smith Brothers, The Motherhood enlisted a powerhouse team of influential Pittsburgh moms to attend a series of local market #SnackMob truck events throughout the city and encouraged their readers to do the same. Bloggers also used their social media posts to spread the word about the #SnackMob contest and to document their own experiences with this one-of-a-kind snack truck.

The Motherhood team extends its gratitude for our brand partners and nationwide network of bloggers with whom we had the honor of creating this award-winning work.

Last night’s Agency of the Year and campaign recognition follows a very successful 2015 ceremony, during which The Motherhood took home the first-ever People’s Choice Award, after our campaign around Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood with The Fred Rogers Company received the most votes from the PR professionals in attendance. Beyond the ceremony, The Motherhood was also named the second-fastest growing marketing company in our headquarters city in 2015, as well as AMA Marketer of the Year.

The Motherhood is one of Pittsburgh’s Coolest Offices

We’re excited to share that our headquarters has been named one of Pittsburgh’s Coolest Offices! Throughout the month of September, the Pittsburgh Business Times is showcasing the most interesting and inspiring office spaces in the Pittsburgh region.

Our new headquarters is located in Sharpsburg’s old Fort Pitt Brewing Co. building. In the early 1900s, this brewery was the leader in the local beer market. The motto, “Fort Pitt, That’s It!” is still displayed on the building’s exterior, as well as in the original terrazzo floor in the front lobby.

The freshly painted red, blue and grey walls of the renovated space match our company’s fun, bright and creative personality. Each team member’s office showcases a unique piece of art that was painted freehand by Stretch Carter, art director.

We love working in a space with such a rich history and fun quirks in the nooks and crannies of this very unique building.

2015 is an incredible year for The Motherhood! The Motherhood Recognized as One of Pittsburgh’s Fastest-Growing Companies

The Motherhood is honored to be recognized as one of Pittsburgh’s fastest-growing companies! Last night, The Motherhood was named to the Pittsburgh 100 Class of 2015, a Pittsburgh Business Times program that recognizes the 100 organizations with the largest rate of growth over a three-year period from 2012 to 2014.

The Motherhood was ranked #41 overall and sixth in the consulting and professional services category. The Motherhood is also the second-fastest-growing marketing company in Pittsburgh, and we were one of just two companies in the top 50 with 10 or fewer employees!

As the 100 organizations represented last night have proven, Pittsburgh has transformed from a steel town to a region that is leading advancements in the technology, robotics, healthcare, biomedical technology, finance and education industries. We couldn’t be prouder to be included in such amazing company.

After the awards ceremony, a reception was held to celebrate all the Pittsburgh-area honorees.

In June, The Motherhood received the news that we were named one of Pittsburgh’s fastest-growing companies. The list ranks the fastest-growing private companies in the region, with a rapid growth rate of 30 percent or more between 2012 and 2014.

Congratulations to all the companies named to this year’s Pittsburgh 100 List! 2015 has been such an exciting year for our team and we can’t wait to see what comes next!

The Motherhood Named to the 2015 Pittsburgh 100 List of Fastest-Growing Companies!

The Motherhood is so proud to announce that we have been named to the 2015 Pittsburgh 100 List of Fastest-Growing Companies by the Pittsburgh Business Times. The list ranks the fastest-growing private companies in the region, with a rapid growth rate of 30 percent or more between 2012 and 2014.

In August, The Motherhood will be recognized at a ceremony to celebrate this success, along with other Pittsburgh-area honorees. The recognition comes on the heels of another achievement by The Motherhood team: In March, Co-Founder Cooper Munroe was named a 2015 BusinessWomen First Winner by the Pittsburgh Business Times, which honors the top female executives who are leading the way for other professional women while making a difference in the western Pennsylvania business community.

Iris Awards Win: Congratulations to ONE Girls and Women

Bloggers, organizations and campaigns were honored in early May at the Iris Awards, hosted at Mom 2.0 Summit, and among them was an organization especially important to The Motherhood and close to all of our hearts: ONE Girls and Women. (The Motherhood co-founders Cooper Munroe and Emily McKhann serve on the organization’s advisory board alongside other top online influencers.)

Several years ago, The Motherhood worked with the ONE Campaign to create initiative building awareness around women’s issues in Africa. With eight other influential online moms – Rachel Fox, Amy Graff, Jennifer James, Lindsay Maines, Shayne Moore, Elisa Morgan, Jyl Pattee, and Karen Walrond – Cooper and Emily visited Kenya with the ONE team to learn about conditions and relief efforts in Africa and share what they were learning and witnessing with women back home in America.

The blogger community responded enthusiastically to the trip, following the ONE Moms in real time through their Twitter hashtag, a dedicated page on the ONE Campaign’s website, a page on The Motherhood and hundreds of blogs around the country that promoted the organization’s work and offered support.

The grassroots social media movement around the ONE Moms drew the attention of ABC World News, which named the ONE Moms as ABC News’ Person of the Week on “World News Tonight” with Diane Sawyer after their return to the U.S.

Starting this Mother’s Day, ONE and Heifer International will lead a ONE Girls and Women trip through Malawi with an exceptional group of bloggers.  You can follow along and support the trip here.  The hashtags are #ONEHeifer and #Malawi.
