A fabulous team of The Motherhood bloggers today kicked off the LISTERINE® Healthy Habits for a Lifetime Oral Care Challenge 2012. Get ready for beautiful, sparkling, HEALTHY smiles across the nation, folks.
For three weeks, the bloggers and their families are challenged to commit to healthy oral care habits – and they are already jumping in with such creative, fun and inventive ideas!
The Motherhood has partnered with the makers of LISTERINE® and REACH®, who are supporting the American Heart Association’s My Heart. My Life.TM initiative, with the common goal in mind to educate and empower Americans to make positive lifestyle choices each day – including good oral care!
In an information-packed conference call last week with Johnson & Johnson oral care experts, we learned so many critical reasons good oral care is a must-do, non-negotiable, daily routine for everyone in the family.
As Sara, Dealicious Mom wrote on her blog, “Did you know that brushing alone misses 75% of your mouth? Or that 50% of children will have a cavity or filling between the ages of 5 and 9? I know this sure makes me think twice about what I’m doing as a mom to help keep my mouth and my family’s mouths healthy! Since February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, there’s no better time to start re-thinking how you and your family take care of your mouths.”
We love what the bloggers are already sharing – it is so motivational, and fun! Team Momma Findings looks ready to go!
Yay Team Staten Island Family! How cute is this video!?!
The One Bored Mommy Team already has flossing, brushing and rinsing DOWN!
Keeping track of their progress – WAY TO GO Team LA Story!
To read along as the bloggers and their families take the LISTERINE® Healthy Habits for a Lifetime Oral Care Challenge, follow the hashtag #HealthyHabits. They are sharing important information, and really helpful tips and ideas to get you and your family on an awesome path to oral health and wellness!
Here are a few tips from pediatric dentist Dr. Kaneta Lott to get your kids started on the path to great oral care:
1) Make oral care fun! For example, make it a game; brush, floss and rinse to music; etc.
2) Reward good oral care behavior. One option would be using a printable calendar and gold stars to track progress.
3) Show, don’t tell. Make oral care a family affair and brush, floss and rinse with your kids.
